Does your chapter have a lot of guests that come to the meetings but don’t join? Have they signed the guest list when they visit?
If you answer yes to both of those questions then look further. Does your membership chair follow up with guests? Do your members call the guests to get to get to know them better?
If I were a guest and I didn’t get a call from someone in the chapter afterwards, I would assume that I wasn’t well received and I would not return to the meeting the following week. However, if I got a call from several members to see how they could help me with my business, I would be thrilled that they cared enough to call me. I would be more motivated to come back and be a part of the chapter.
Always express a giving and helping attitude when guests visit your chapter. Treat them the way that you would like to be treated and don't be surprised if this increases the number of guests who return for a second time.
