The key to success is sometimes being at the right place at the right time. But this can’t happen unless you show up. Social Media is a wonderful way to connect with people across the country, but personal, face-to-face meetings build rapport quicker. Face-to-face networking provides more time to learn how you can help the people you meet and how they can help you.
So, don’t just sit in your office. Attend Chamber of Commerce or Professional Organization meetings. Join a Book Club. Attend a business seminar or program at the Library. You never know who you will meet.
Quick example, when I ran a Chamber of Commerce, we had a ribbon cutting for a new Dry Cleaners. A Financial Advisor attended. It turned out that the owner had over $1 million dollars in his 401K account with his old company. Just by showing up, the Financial Advisor got one BIG account.
