Inspirations - The Sixth Reason

We all know about the Five Reasons we join LeTip, but did you know there was a Sixth Reason?

We don't write about it often, and we don't add it to our program, because it happens spontaneously. The Sixth Reason appears only when one of our members finds themselves in a very stressful or challenging situation.

In a way, I think the Sixth Reason is the most important of all. It shows the depth of commitment that members have for one another, and it makes me proud to be part of a such a company.

A perfect example of the Sixth Reason is defined in the letter that Janet Hansen, Regional Director, forwarded to me from LeTip Member Stephen G. Baime, Attorney, Chicago, Illinois.

Subject: A Sixth Reason

To my LeTip friends:

Whenever we have a guest at our meetings, Walter speaks about the Five Reasons to join Le Tip. Well, I propose that there are six reasons. The sixth reason is that when a member has a personal challenge, as I did last week when my son was diagnosed with cancer, the LeTip group is a source of great support and comfort.

Most of you sent me an email with loving and supportive words, and I printed each of your emails for my wife and son to share with me. It was truly very moving to see such support from my friends at LeTip, and, believe me, it was helpful.

The surgery went well. We spent the day at Walter Reed Army Hospital for the surgery, and the hospital had so, so many brave young men there for care for missing arms, missing legs, missing hands, and missing feet, all from injuries in Iraq. A day at the Army hospital brings home the enormity of the cost in human terms of our being in Iraq.

And, yet, the soldiers that we spoke with there who were healthy, without exception, all hoped to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan because, as they said, that is why they are in the Army. Real heroes, in my opinion.
